The DC BOEE granted Mary Spencer and the public the right to vote via referendum on Fenty's Schools Takeover legislation. A governance change that big had to be put before the voters. However, the DC BOEE reversed this decision as petitioners geared up to collect the required 20,000 signatures. On June 7, 2007 the DC BOEE made this decision public.
