Domestic violence affects the lives of millions of American families. Nearly one-third of women report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives.* Statistics also reveal that abuse starts early: 40% of girls between the ages of 14 and 17-years old report that they know someone who has been hit, beaten or slapped by their boyfriend.** Historical efforts to stop abuse have primarily targeted abused women with a focus on intervention and aid to victims of domestic violence. This campaign has taken an innovative shift and targets men to take an active role in domestic violence prevention. The PSAs give men a clear role in preventing domestic violence by asking them to teach boys early that relationship violence is unacceptable.
