Hawaiian "HONU" means Green Sea Turtle in Hawaiian. They are a special friend to the native culture. They are graceful in the water and reach an average old age of 250 years. They use to be on the endangered species list until their numbers grew then they were put on the Federally Protected list. You can witness these firendly creatures just about anywhere you decide to snorkel/dive in the Hawaiian Islands. But remember never to harass them since there is a fine of $10,000.00.
