Fraternal Orders were first started in the Middle Ages as groups of craftsmen joined together and pledged to help each other and their families in times of need. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is so named because it was considered strange for common people to go around doing good things for others. Today, the Odd Fellows and their sister organization, Rebekahs, raise millions of dollars every year for a wide range of charities and programs.
