July 08 DV Update magazine page 6 got me interested enough to watch the trailer...from there I did not get up until I had viewed all 16. The concept and execution of the script, cinematography and music are right on. Acting is solid through out. Rather intense and disturbing plot with well laid out scenes, background moods and cuts.
My only critique is the sound could use a little tweaking and stick with the
opening titles used in first 7 episodes, black and white, lose the blue psychedelic sun deal.
I have worked in 26 big/medium budget films this past two years with big deal
directors, cinematographers, etc, etc and guess what? You guys should be the next internet Blair Witch Project. Only problem is many of the comments by the unfortunately limited views, both in numbers and intellect, indicate that if you don't have zombies or technically accurate dirty bomb stats the piece is not up to their low standards. It's closer to reality then many can handle.
Great work, keep it up, never give up til you win!
I read about this series in the July DV magazine. I too sat down and watched the entire series in one sitting. I must congratulate you on a well crafted endeavor. The story was gripping, the heroine engaging and believable, and the production spot on.
My only story critiques are minor elements, such as the issue with the power going out, yet she's able to recharge and use her laptop quite readily. She mentions that her cell doesn't work - but what about land lines? Is she posting her blog? If so, how does she get on to the internet? And if she's posting, why can't she get email, etc?
I understand that the idea is to isolate her and make her more vulnerable. These are just minor conceits that the viewer needs to accept. As such, they didn't pull me out of the story, but rather stood out a little.
Misty's acting was great. I enjoyed watching her journey as she started to unravel and finally become a strong, confident person, albeit somewhat haunted by her actions.
Great job - all of you. The acting, cinematography, Vfx, music, and editing were great and I really look forward to seeing more from you.
